PORTFOLIO

At Alban Engineering, we are extremely proud of the MEP and lighting designs we produce, the effectiveness of the equipment we specify, and the comfortable environments we create. Each project’s custom-designed solution involves balancing inventive applications with current resources while incorporating sensible and proven engineering principles.

Lead by Jeff Alban, who honed this full-circle design approach and pioneered energy conservation strategies that are “green” design features for LEED buildings today, the Alban team follows the principles he established over thirty years:

  • Offer a fee at a cost advantage
  • Provide reliable documentation and priority service
  • Always consider the best alternatives with comparable costs
  • Understand the client’s goals for design, use, and operation
  • Go beyond what is expected
  • All Markets

  • In Progress

Alban Engineering’s approach is to create a win-win-win scenario for school administration, students and teachers, and the project team. Our designs help create positive learning environments that are free from temperature, humidity, air draft, noise, or irregular light distractions. Systems and equipment are reliable and durable, and work as they were designed to, even down to the smallest detail of how switches are organized, simple to operate, and easily managed in every space. As an added bonus for the client and team, we also design cost efficiency options into all of our designs to achieve MEP savings that may be applied to other segments of the project.

Higher education facilities are in constant states of change. Colleges and universities continually alter and update spaces to offer leading-edge curriculum, satisfy ever-changing student interests, and advance the total education experience. Alban Engineering designs for adaptable transitions, while also considering the future needs for multiple uses, interconnecting spaces and buildings, and the energy utilization and efficiency that will be required. We stay ahead of the curve with new MEP and lighting developments to prepare for – and anticipate - the next trends in higher education. Our relationship with architects and clients is the essential component to looking forward and staying informed.

Essentially, there are three requirements for MEP systems: follow energy efficiency guidelines, be easily maintained and controlled, and enhance the building’s environment. Alban Engineering meets these requirements and adds a design perspective that may also prolong the building’s useful life. Analyzing a building’s needs, studying its coefficient performance (as we do with the equipment we specify), determining energy consumption and reduction, and employing relevant technologies with current field applications are all part of the process we’ve perfected to achieve these goals.

Worship centers and sanctuary spaces are unique in that they are typically occupied a few hours each week. Designed for large volume assembly, they require ample disbursement of heating and cooling throughout with no distractions from temperature, humidity, or noise. But, next to the architect’s aesthetic, lighting is the most powerful spiritual feature. Its layering and illumination inspire feelings of warmth, uplift, comfort, and peace. At Alban, we provide both expert MEP and innovative lighting design, that together, bring comfort, quiet, and tranquility to spiritual places.

Lighting design is an evolving technology. Methods used create comfort, uplift, and calm, change moods and perceptions, enhance dimensional symmetry and volume, and ease fatigue. Techniques are multi-functional, flexible, and controllable, and those we engage for our lighting designs, in unison with the luminaries we select, enrich the colors, signage, features, and feelings architects and interior designers want their buildings and spaces to convey.
