Chesapeake Bay Middle School

Project Quick Facts

  • Chesapeake Bay Middle School
  • Owner: Anne Arundel County Public Schools
  • Type of Project: Open Enclosures
  • Location: Pasadena, MD

Project Details

Chesapeake Bay Middle School (CBMS) is located at 4804 Mountain Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122. The school is part of a larger complex which includes Chesapeake Bay High school and Bodkin Elementary School. The complex is surrounded by residential single family dwellings.

The majority of the site is currently developed with a school building, multiple athletic fields, and surface parking. The site is bounded to the south by Mountain Road, and to the east by Ventnor Road.
The goal of the project was to rearrange and modify multiple areas of open classrooms to provide individual, acoustically separated classrooms per the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Educational Specifications and local building and life safety codes. The previous building had classroom “pods” that were not completely enclosed and open to adjacent classrooms. There were several classrooms that students and faculty must traverse through to get to their classroom. Alban Engineering performed MEP design services for the classroom enclosures.
