New Market Middle School – Systemic Replacement

Alban Engineering, Inc. provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the replacement of the existing heating plant equipment and modification to the heating system at New Market Middle School.
The design included replacement of two (2) large cast iron hot water boilers, removal of the fuel oil piping system, modification of natural gas system, re-piping within the boiler room, replacement of the existing heating water pump, modification to the makeup water system and replacement of flue system.
Four (4) new high efficiency condensing boilers were designed and controlled to optimize energy performance. The existing constant flow heating water pump was replaced with a variable flow pump and three-way valves were modified to function as two-way throttling valves. A differential pressure transmitter was provided to control pump speed. A new direct digital control system was designed to tie into the existing county energy management system. Modifications to the existing electrical systems were designed to support the mechanical scope of work.
Add Alternatives included replacement of the domestic water heaters with high efficiency condensing type, removal of the existing incinerator and to integrate the building existing Andover Automatic Temperature Control System into the county Johnson Controls Energy Management System.
