Project Details
The Rock Creek Elementary School is currently under construction and is a replacement school for the existing Rock Creek facility. Rock Creek School provides special education programs for Frederick County students with complex medical conditions and severe intellectual, physical, emotional, hearing, vision and learning disabilities, from ages 3 through 21. The mission of Rock Creek School is to provide a safe, respectful, caring and enjoyable learning environment in which students can develop communication and independent-living skills to achieve their full potential at school, at home and in their communities.
The Mechanical and Electrical Systems design are based on an Educational facility of approximately 90,000 square feet (base building) and approximately 23,400 square feet of add alternatives.
Due to the unique nature of Rock Creek’s services, extensive planning will be required mechanically and electrically. High efficiency mechanical systems including geothermal options, hybrid geothermal to reduce cost, Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) and high efficiency conventional 4-pipe central plant systems will be evaluated.
All new power distribution, indoor and site lighting systems, security and low voltage special IT systems will be designed to serve the entire building based on the County’s standards. LED lighting with controls will be designed to meet State of Maryland standards while still being intuitive for use by the users.
